Jumana Al Refai is a choreographer, teacher, and professional dancer based in Kuwait. She has over 20 years of dance experiences and holds a Bachelor in Arts in Graphic Design from the American University of Kuwait and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from George Mason University (GMU) where she performed works by renowned choreographers such as Robert Battle and Soon-ho Park. Al Refai trained at The Ailey School in New York City and furthered her training at the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance and The School of Jacob’s Pillow. In 2018, she returned to Kuwait and established the Haraka Center for Movement Arts (HCMA) in 2021. HCMA offers dance training and education for women of all ages, focusing on technique, creativity, and improvisation. She also founded the Haraka Project, a movement-based dance company, to raise dance awareness in Kuwait and the Gulf region.
